Dear Parents/Guardians,
The Board of Directors have approved Phase 1 of a refurbishment programme for our residential boarding facilities.
Refurbishment will involve rewiring of rooms, provision of new furniture for students, painting & decorating and in some cases replacement of floor coverings and plumbing/heating systems.
During August 2025, one dorm in Butler House (Boys Boarding ) and one dorm in Lower Ossory (Girls Boarding) were completed.
The following is the schedule of upgrades out to August 2026 .
Oct 2025 – During Half Term
1 Dorm ,Lower Ossory & 1 Dorm, Butler House.
Feb 2026 – During Half Term
1 Dorm ,Lower Ossory & 1 Dorm, Butler House.
April 2026 – During Easter Holidays
1 Dorm ,Lower Ossory & 1 Dorm, Butler House.
Aug 2026 – During Summer Holidays
1 Dorm, Lower Ossory & 1 Dorm, Butler House.
The total cost of these upgrades will be €200,000 and represents a significant first step in upgrading our residential boarding accommodation at Kilkenny College. During Phase 1, 85 new bed spaces will be provided across 10 refurbished dorms.
Planning and preparation for further upgrades after Aug 2026 will commence immediately and I look forward to updating parents/guardians in due course.
